Blues & Roots guitarist Ben J. Carter has been playing his bona fide brand of foot stomping bottleneck slide guitar in venues, events and festivals across Victoria since 2015.
His one man band live show incorporating acoustic guitar, foot stomp and percussion goes from soaring slide guitar and blues hollers to folk song ballads.
Ben's reinterpretation of old time country blues aims to pay tribute to iconic bluesman of a bygone era such as Skip James, Lightning Hopkins, Fred Mcdowell and Robert Johnson, as well as providing a swag of original folk songs.
In late 2017 Carter's debut album “These Winters they howl” was released receiving rave reviews. The album conveys his mastery of finger picking guitar and features the combined respective talents of Anita Quayle (cello), Hannah Francis (fiddle), Jason Bunn (violin/viola) and Damien Fitzgerald on Drums. It's a melodic journey through americana, folk and blues with gleaming string sections adding rich atmosphere
